The authors
Dr. Julia Freudenberg has led Hacker School gGmbH, a non-profit for digital education, since 2017. In 2024 she published “Hack the world a better place” (with Karen Funk). With us she is Managing Director, responsible for strategy and partnerships.
Matthias Feldmann was Vision Officer at Hacker School gGmbH and taught business intelligence, process mining and data analytics at Universität Hamburg for several years. With us he leads data analytics and solutions engineering and builds AI-supported applications.
How the book relates to our work
Explaining AI to eleven-year-olds means boiling it down to what it actually does. Teams in non-profit organisations need the same thing: they are expected to use AI tools day to day and judge where their limits are. Since February 2025 the EU AI Act requires organisations that use AI to ensure their staff have sufficient AI literacy.
We offer workshops and training for this, from a half-day introductory workshop to organisation-wide AI guidelines.
